The Challenge of Working From Home

Setting up your home office has its own distinct set of advantages and disadvantages. Therefore, you need to recognize those before you decide to work from home. The most obvious challenge lies in the fact that you are at the comfort of your own home and it is easy to be deceived by the idea that you are not working. Hence, you can assume a laidback approach at work and achieve less than you normally would when having to attend work at the office.

Finding a balance between work and home life is vital. Most importantly, you need to be able to separate the two. That is the first step that you must take in order to succeed with work from your home office. The most important thing that should drive you to work, even when you are right at home is the delivery of quality work expected of you from your clients. Below are some tips to get yourself motivated and become more successful with work at home.

Discipline Yourself

When at home, there are several responsibilities to look after. Juggling them proves to become more difficult with the addition of work priorities. With several things to attend to, it is easy to compromise your work and make them last in your priorities. However, you need to create a boundary in terms of when you need to work and when you must attend to all these errands at home. Treat yourself professionally, such that you have a specific schedule dedicated for work.

However, you also need to ensure that your obligations at home are not neglected when you focus much of your time at work. The key here is balance.

Come Up With A Plan

The best way to come up with a solid plan concerning your home office and work, break them down into short- and long-term plans. Here is how you should approach either one.

Short-term plans: Before starting your daily work, you need to determine what tasks you need to accomplish. This will allow you to allocate how much time is allowed for each one, so as not to forsake other necessary tasks. If possible, do this daily planning method a week ahead. This will help you determine whether you have enough time to squeeze in other rush tasks. In between doing your tasks, take time to relax. This will provide you enough strength and vitality to finish the rest of the day’s tasks.

Long-term plans: Every month, take time to review your business. Examine the possibility of growth and adding up more ideas to help your work at home business thrive and grow. Since the market is continually evolving, you have to evolve with it as well. This is also your opportunity to assess where your business is headed to and what you can do to improve it further.

Hire Assistance

Since you are still doing business, you can opt to hire help from personnel that will attend to different areas of your work. Whether it is accounting, bookkeeping, secretarial, scheduling appoints, and so on, you will find that it is worth investing for. It should be able to provide you with enough organization and produce more work in the same amount of time.

Pace Yourself Well

Never be too hard on yourself. When you become your own boss, it could either be a positive or negative thing. You can tend to relax too much to forsake work, or you can overwork yourself too. After every accomplished task, take time to relax. It will enable you to revive and gather enough strength needed to complete the next set of tasks. By doing this, you will also notice that you produce more quality work.

Simple Money Making Tips For Moms

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

Moms know that staying home with the kids is an important job, perhaps the most important job that a woman can have. Unfortunately, few moms can afford to give up all of the income they’ve been contributing to the family coffers. However, finding the right work from home job can be a bit of a challenge. Luckily, moms can find ways to contribute to the household’s financial well being while they are hunting for the perfect work from home job.

Do your children have toys they’ve barely touched or clothing they’ve outgrown that is still in good shape? One great way to make a bit of extra money is to gather up all of the items you aren’t using anymore and hold a garage sale or yard sale. Make sure that everything is clean, well organized, and clearly priced before you hold your sale. You should have a sign that clearly announces the sale in your front yard and you may want to also place a classified ad in your local paper. To save on advertising costs and generate more interest, ask a few other neighborhood moms to chip in.

If you don’t live in a yard sale friendly location, you can still resell your children’s gently worn clothing as they outgrow it. Check the local yellow pages for the phone numbers for a few consignment shops. Be sure to talk to a few different shops to find one that has a low consignment fee and is also clean and well organized.

Of course, you can also earn money by going to yard sales and buying nice items at low prices to resell on eBay. Before you begin buying things, take some time to look at eBay auctions to see what sells and what doesn’t. Some of the oddest items, such as children’s weaving looms or fast food collectibles still in the bag, sell for a good sum of money. Other things don’t sell at all.

Another great way for moms to make money is to combine coupons, sales, and rebates. During the Christmas season, many stores have substantial rebate offers for everything from tools to pre-paid cellular phones. You can have a wonderful Christmas without blowing the family budget, which will make you feel just as happy after the holiday as your kids feel while they are opening their gifts. Of course, quite a few drug stores have rebate offers for hair dye, shampoos, and extension cords throughout the year. If you use these items, you probably planned to buy them anyway, but you may not have been considering buying them if you have no use for them. However, even if you don’t need something that is free or almost free after rebate, you may want to buy it to add to your yard sale stash.

Finally, if you’d like to be able to afford a few fun extras, you may want to consider doing a bit of mystery shopping. You can get free meals, trips to the movies, or clothing in exchange for information about your shopping experience. Just be sure you don’t pay for mystery shopper information.

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

Real Office Setup

Every company or business establishment have their own office space where customers or potential clients visit them to conduct business. The office is a place where all professional matters are handled and any business transaction are conducted.

Many people find working at an office quite stressful. There are a lot of source of stress and pressure in the life of an office employee, whether from having to deal with problem co-workers, or nagging boss, or standards of work that one has to constantly meet. Hence, several workers have decided to quit their job at the office and turn home-based instead. Thus, home office are quite common nowadays.

Working at Home

Home-based workers or self-employed individuals setup their home office where they handle all work-related tasks. In fact, most setup their own home office where they can entertain clients and business associates at home. Many find this a convenient setup since they can attend to their work while being able to still spend time with their family.

However, the accessibility of the comforts available within your home, it is easy to fall into the wrong idea that you are not working. Hence, you need to develop a sound level of self-discipline in order to separate business from pleasure and focus on what you need to do at work.

Which is Better?

There are several considerations that one has to make before deciding whether to opt for a home office or real office instead. Each one has its own set of advantages and disadvantages. Therefore, it is difficult to conclude that one is the better option over the other. The best way for you to decide is to come up with a checklist of these pro’s and con’s. Then, determine whether the pro’s outweigh the con’s, or vice versa.

Also, you need to consider your own attitude towards work. Paid Surveys And Reviews: Are They A Legitimate Way To Make Money Online?

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

We’ve all seen the offers before.  Whether it’s in a mass e-mail or a pop-up ad, it seems like everyone is offering “$10 for a Quick Five Minute Survey!”  Because many of these offers seem too good to be true, most people are extremely skeptical of whether these offers are legitimate or just another type of scam.  From my personal experience, paid surveys and reviews are like most things in life.  There are plenty of legitimate opportunities to make some extra money, but there are also opportunities for you to get scammed and ripped off.  By taking the time to educate yourself about how to distinguish a legitimate surveys and reviews from scams, you can ensure that you reap the benefits of these offers without being exploited by the dishonest ones.

Because of the upfront cost, people seem to be most suspicious of paid survey web sites that require a fee to join.  Ironically enough, not only are some of these web sites the most reliable, but many of them also offer the largest amount of surveys.  The reason these web sites require an upfront fee is to cover costs such as customer service and database maintenance.  In addition to paid surveys and mystery shopper programs, many of these membership web sites also offer links to data entry jobs, instant cash bonuses and opportunities to get paid to surf around the internet.

So what is the easiest way to find web sites that won’t rip off?  From my personal experience, a little research will go a long way.  Once you find an offer or web site that you think is interesting, use the power of the internet to find out more about it.  By typing the name of the offer or web site into Google, you should be able to find quite a few reviews from actual people.  Based on these reviews, you can determine whether the offer or web site is actually legitimate.  If you are unable to find any information at all, you should probably steer clear of that paid survey opportunity.

Paid Surveys – Tips to Work From Home and Make Secondary Income

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

Participate in paid surveys and earn secondary or primary income with minimal effort and without leaving your house. It’s amazing how much money you can make and also the prizes you can win by filling out simple surveys. Of course when something is too good to be true there is a risk. We have been doing research on Internet fraud for three years and found out there are a lot of scam survey and work at home providers. A lot of survey websites offer people a database with a fee for paid surveys which turns out to be scam surveys. Also, survey sites offer free access to their survey database but require you to register with their site. Again, this is a scam. They keep your information and sell it to third party companies. Why should you take online surveys?:

  • Influence the development of new products and services
  • Make money….Easily be paid from $1 to $100 for 20 minutes of your time
  • Work from the comfort of your home
  • It’s free to join, No cost what so ever
  • It’s are fun and interesting…you learn a lot about current product and product in the near future
  • It’s Easy….all you need is a computer
  • Earn great rewards and prizes…some survey companies send product to keep and only ask for feedback
  • You make a difference by expressing your opinion

Sample Questions: (95% are multiple choice questions)

  • What cereal do you prefer? A) Raisin Brand B) Frosted Flakes C) Chex
  • Have you heard of the Tom-Tom Navigation System? A) Yes B) No
  • What vacation destination would your prefer? A) Beach B) Mountains C) City
  • What airline do you prefer? A) Delta B) American Airlines C) Air Tran

Survey Tips:

  • Register only with online survey panels that list a privacy policy on their website
  • Look for panels approved by the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and that have privacy policies reviewed by eTRUST or features the WebTrust for Online Privacy Seal of Assurance.
  • Beware of “survey websites” asking you to receive information for special offers and other survey panels during registration – these websites may sell your name and information to other companies that will send you spam.
  • Always set up a separate e-mail account exclusively for survey invitations. This will make it easier for you to see how many surveys you have received, and will avoid spam being sent to your personal e-mail address, should you make a mistake and register with an unreputable surveys website.
  • Beware of “survey websites” that ask for overtly personal information such as your bank account information, credit card numbers, full names of family members, etc. A real online market research company would never ask you to provide this type of information.
  • Be cautious of “get rich quick” websites. You cannot get rich taking online surveys. However, you can make a decent amount of cash on the side participating in surveys.
  • Legitimate online survey e-mail invitations will provide information on the type of study being conducted, the survey length, and the incentive for completion. Do not respond or click on e-mail “survey invitations” that feature ads to win products, cash, etc. These e-mails are not coming from legitimate market research companies!
  • Some research companies will ask you to download software after registration. This software usually tracks your web browsing habits and the information is then sent to marketers. It is ok to download this software if you can verify a legitimate market research firm is running the site – do your homework to make sure that this is indeed the case.
  • Look for mentions of marketing association memberships on survey panel websites. Reputable associations include CASRO (Council of American Survey Research Organizations) and the AAPOR (American Association for Public Opinion Research).
  • Your opinion counts! Marketers truly are interested in what you think, enough to reward you with cash and prizes just for sharing your thoughts. Stay cautious when registering with online survey panels, but when you’ve found a reputable panel – have fun and reap the rewards of being a panelist!

Finally, go to a free website which does not make you register.  it seems all of the survey companies are legit so this would be a good website to start off and apply. Plus they give you great tips on how to utilize the survey process to help save time with little effort. Have Fun!
